Stove and Dryer Vent Pipe

Dryer and appliance venting: Deflect-O 4 in. aluminum vent pipe, semi-rigid duct in 96 in., elbows, duct connectors and increaser/reducers, register and magnetic vent covers, and stove pipe wire. Four inch is the standard dryer duct size and the run should be as short and straight as the layout allows — every elbow adds the equivalent of several feet of straight run against the dryer’s rated maximum, which is why a long crooked run is the usual reason clothes take two cycles. Rigid and semi-rigid aluminum are what to specify; flexible foil and plastic duct trap lint and are prohibited in many jurisdictions. Do not fasten dryer duct with screws that project into the duct, since that is exactly where lint collects; foil tape is the correct joint.
