Bushings

Reducing bushings for stepping a port down a size: ATC brass hex bushings in MPT to FPT, and Charlotte Pipe Schedule 40 PVC and FlowGuard CPVC reducing bushings in slip, spigot and threaded configurations. A bushing takes up almost no length compared with a reducing coupling and a nipple, which is why it is the usual answer when a fitting comes out one size too big. Watch the end style, not just the sizes — slip is solvent-welded into a socket, spigot goes into another fitting's socket, and MPT threads into a female port. Brass is the pick for compressed air and hydraulic work; PVC and CPVC stay on water lines, CPVC where the water is hot.
