Backup pads and pad savers — the wear parts between the sander and the disc. Disc pads come in 5 and 6 in. with no-hole and vented hole patterns, in hook face for hook-and-loop discs and vinyl face for PSA, so the pad has to match the disc backing you buy. Pad savers are a sacrificial hook-and-loop interface layer: they take the wear instead of the pad, and a 10-pack costs a fraction of a replacement pad. Screw-on 3 x 4 in. hook face pads cover the rectangular sanders.
