What's included: one upright frame only. Beams, wire decking and footplates are not included and are sold separately. Two frames plus a set of beams make one bay; a run of rack needs one more frame than it has bays.
A Unirak upright frame is the vertical, load-bearing half of a pallet rack bay. Two frames stand at either end of a bay and the horizontal beams (sold separately) drop between them: the beams carry the pallets, the frames carry the load down to the floor. Frames are sold and priced individually, so a single run of rack needs one more frame than it has bays — three bays takes four frames.
Choosing a height
Frame height (96", 120", 144", 192" or 240") is the overall height of the upright. Choose it from your ceiling and sprinkler clearance and the number of load levels you need. Beams adjust vertically in 2" increments from 8" off the floor to the top of the column, so height sets the maximum number of levels rather than a fixed one.
Choosing a depth
Frame depth (24", 36", 42" or 48") is the front-to-back footprint. Match it to the pallet you actually store: a standard 48" × 40" pallet loaded 40" deep is typically run on 42" frames, so the pallet overhangs the beams slightly front and rear. A frame deeper than your pallet is not an upgrade — it just consumes aisle. The 24" depths are intended for hand-stack and carton-flow work rather than full pallets.
Choosing a duty level
Duty determines the column profile and the rated capacity:
Extra Heavy Duty (H30) — 3" × 3" column, rated 32,900 lb. Offered in 240"H × 42"D.
Capacities are per frame and are based on 48" shelf spacing; tighter or wider beam spacing changes the working capacity. Unirak rates its frames to RMI guidelines for rated capacities and safety factors. The capacity for each size is shown in the option list above so you can see it before you buy.
Construction
Uprights are a one-piece, fully MIG-welded design rather than a bolted assembly. The finish is a hi-gloss powder coat chosen for visibility and abrasion resistance; standard upright colour is green. Frames interchange with most "teardrop"-style racking, so they can be added to an existing teardrop system.
Pairs with Unirak beams. Other sizes and colours are available, and custom height / depth / length combinations can be built to order — contact us for details. FOB shipping point; a $500 minimum and steel surcharges may apply.
