A cantilever rack stores long, awkward material — bar stock, pipe, tube, lumber, extrusion, sheet goods — the things that will not sit on a pallet. Instead of shelves it uses arms that project from a vertical upright, so the storage face is completely open: no front column to work around, and material can be loaded by hand or by forklift straight off the aisle.

Single sided vs. double sided
Single sided uprights carry arms on one face and are designed to stand against a wall. Double sided uprights carry arms on both faces, so one row of uprights serves two aisles — roughly double the storage from the same floor line. Double-sided uprights have a wider base and roughly double the rated capacity.
Choosing height and base
Height runs from 8' to 20'. Choose it from your ceiling clearance and how many arm levels you need — arms adjust on 3" centres over the full length of the upright, so height sets the maximum number of levels, not a fixed number.
The base depth is tied to the arm length you intend to run, because a longer arm needs a deeper base to stay stable. This is the most common sizing mistake, so match them:
38" base (single) / 59" base (double) — for 12", 18" and 24" arms.
50" base (single) / 83" base (double) — for 30" and 36" arms.
62" base (single) / 107" base (double) — for 42" and 48" arms.

Capacity
Rated capacity per upright depends on both the upright and the arm length fitted, and falls as the arm gets longer and as the upright gets taller. As an illustration, an 8' single-sided upright on a 38" base is rated 18,100 lb with 12" arms, 15,300 lb with 18" arms and 13,300 lb with 24" arms; the equivalent double-sided upright on a 59" base is rated 36,200 lb / 30,600 lb / 26,600 lb. Ratings for taller uprights are lower. Confirm the exact rating for your chosen height and arm length before loading.
Construction
Heavy-duty welded steel built for rough service. The open base design gives forklift access under the bottom arm level, and installation is bolt-together. FOB shipping point; steel surcharge may apply.
