How to measure
- Use a soft tape measure, or wrap a strip of paper and mark it, then lay it on a ruler.
- Wrap it around your dominant hand at the knuckles, below the thumb, with your hand flat and fingers together.
- Round to the nearest half inch. That number is your size. Between sizes? Go up for leather, winter and cut-resistant gloves, and down for disposable and thin coated gloves that should fit snug.

Questions & answers
How do I know my glove size?
Measure around your dominant hand at the knuckles, thumb not included. The number of inches is your glove size: 8 in. is a size 8 (Medium), 9 in. is a size 9 (Large).
What size is a medium glove?
A medium is size 8, for a hand about 8 in. (203 mm) around. Small is 7, Large is 9 and XL is 10.
Should work gloves be tight or loose?
Snug but not tight. Fingertips should reach the end of the glove without pressing. A glove that is too big bunches and cuts grip; too small tires the hand and wears out fast.
Are all brands sized the same?
Most work gloves follow this inch-based numbering, but fit varies by brand and style. When a product lists its own size chart, use that one.
