Siding tools and fasteners: PacTool Gecko Gauge siding hangers for 5/16 in. fiber cement and 3/8 in. LP siding, Malco snap lock punches, nail punches and straight-pattern snips, and Bostitch stainless coil siding nails. Gecko Gauges come in pairs and are sized to the siding thickness, so a set for fiber cement will not hold LP and the reverse — they are what lets one person hang a plank at a consistent reveal. Stainless siding nails are worth the difference anywhere near salt air or over cedar, where a galvanized nail bleeds rust down the face within a season. A snap lock punch raises a tab on cut vinyl so the top course locks into the trim; a nail punch is a different tool entirely.
