Landscape Fabric and Weed Barrier

Greenscapes landscape fabric, netting and the pins that hold them down: burlap and woven landscape fabric, bird netting, and steel and plastic fabric pins from 4 in. to 10 in. in 10 through 100 counts. Pin length is set by the soil, not the fabric — 4 in. pins hold in packed clay, loose or sandy soil and mulch beds need 6 in. or longer or the fabric lifts at the first wind. Woven fabric lets water and air through and is what goes under mulch and stone in a planting bed; solid plastic sheet does not and will drown roots. Burlap is biodegradable and is meant for erosion control and seasonal wrapping rather than long-term weed suppression. Overlap seams by several inches and pin the overlap, because weeds come up at the seam before they come up through the fabric.
