Garbage Disposals

Garbage disposals and the parts that wear out on them: Evergrind continuous and intermittent feed units in 1/3, 1/2 and 5/8 HP, plus Danco splash guards, stoppers, strainers, sink top switches and an installation tool. Horsepower is about what the unit will grind without jamming rather than how fast it turns — 1/3 HP suits light residential use, 1/2 HP and up handle a busy kitchen. Continuous feed runs from a wall switch while you feed it; intermittent feed only runs with the stopper seated, which is the safer arrangement in a house with kids. Splash guards and stoppers are the usual replacement, and they size to the disposal's throat rather than to the sink opening.
