Doorbells from wired pushbuttons through smart video: Heath Zenith wired pushbutton buttons in metal and plastic, and Feit wired and wireless video doorbells, chimes and audible alarms. The first question is whether there is existing low-voltage wiring and a transformer at the door. A wired video doorbell needs that transformer and needs it to have the capacity; a wireless unit runs on its own battery and skips the wiring entirely at the cost of recharging it. A pushbutton is the cheap fix when the chime still works and only the button has failed, and buttons are not universal — match the mounting hole spacing and whether it is lighted.
