Duracell specialty batteries: alkaline 21/23, 27 and 6 V lantern cells, 76A/LR44 and N button cells, and lithium 123 and 1/3N camera and security batteries in 1, 2, 4 and 6 packs. These are the cells that are never in the drawer when you need them — garage door and car remotes, alarm contacts, glucose meters, calipers, flashlights and cameras. Chemistry is not interchangeable with size: a lithium cell and an alkaline cell in the same physical package deliver different voltages and discharge curves, and a device specified for lithium will read low or behave oddly on alkaline. Lithium holds a charge in storage for years and works in the cold, which is why it is specified for security devices and anything outdoors. Buy to the number printed on the old cell, not to what looks the same size.
