How to choose
- Match the film to the machine: most semi-automatic turntables take 20 in. (19.7 in.) rolls; check width and core size against your wrapper's carriage
- Gauge: 60–70 ga for light, uniform loads; 80 ga for most mixed pallets; 90–150 ga for heavy, sharp or irregular loads
- Cost per load, not per roll: longer, thinner rolls can wrap more loads per roll; track loads wrapped per roll before switching gauge
- Pre-stretch: powered pre-stretch wrappers get more length from each roll; ask which films are rated for your pre-stretch setting
- Boxed vs. unboxed: boxed rolls cost more but protect film edges in dusty or rough storage
