Caulk, sealants and adhesives: silicone and acrylic latex caulk, construction adhesive, spray and contact adhesive, fire stop and fireblock sealant, marine and automotive sealants, pipe joint compound and thread seal tape, spackling and weatherstrip adhesives.

Silicone will not take paint and acrylic latex will, which is usually what decides the tube. On threaded pipe, joint compound and PTFE tape do the same job in different places. The adhesives and tape guide covers cure times and substrates.
