Cantex EZ Box PVC electrical boxes in new work and old work versions, 1 gang and 2 gang, plus round ceiling boxes and ring covers. New work boxes nail to a stud before the drywall goes on; old work boxes clamp to the finished drywall itself, which is the only option once the wall is closed. Box volume in cubic inches is what limits how many conductors, devices and clamps can legally go inside — 8 to 35 cu in across this range — so count the wires before picking a box. Round ceiling boxes are the ones intended for a light fixture; a standard device box is not.
