Construction Adhesive

Construction adhesives in cartridge and squeeze tube: DAP all-purpose, heavy duty, foamboard and HD Max polyurethane, Pro Grade polyurethane adhesive sealant, and E6000 industrial strength. The substrate picks the adhesive, and foamboard is the one that catches people out — a standard solvent-based construction adhesive dissolves polystyrene foam, so foam panels need the formula labeled for them. Polyurethane adhesives cure by reacting with moisture, bond dissimilar materials including damp and treated lumber, and expand slightly as they go off, which means clamping or fastening while they cure. Bead size and spacing do more for holding power than the grade does; a serpentine bead on a wide panel and a straight bead on a stud is the usual pattern.
